Take your time

When you hear the phrase- "take your time", what does that mean to you?  Does it mean the obvious and slow down and make sure that whatever the task is, is done correctly?  Does it mean to slow down and smell the roses?  Many times in life we are faced with that same phrase- "take your time", I tend to tell myself that a lot.  See I want my dreams to come to pass like yesterday, but it is a learning curve to realize that things in life are not always fast.  The results we get may not always line up with what was needed or wanted.  However if you "take your time", you can accomplish anything you set out to do.  For instance, let's slow down on trying to recover from depression and anxiety and focus on winning small battles before the war is won.  If you have defeated yourself before you even get started, you will never accomplish what is set out in front of you.  My hope for today is to slow down, slow down to the point where yes I can overcome the negative thoughts that spiral in my mind from time to time.  Yes I can beat these feelings that I have, yes I can move forward and be happy.  Slowing down and taking your time does not mean you have to move at a snails pace, for those who are movers and shakers you may be able to adapt to accomplish this quicker than others, but regardless of how fast you accomplish something the outcome can still be the same.  If you rush your recovery and think to yourself that you are going to snap out of it one day, than you still have a lot of waiting ahead of you.  The recovery from these two illnesses can and will take a while, you will have good days and you will have bad days- but!!!!! If we slow down and take our time to focus on the overall picture, we can beat what hampers us.  For today- Let's try to slow down just a little bit and focus on what is right in front of you.  Can you beat whatever fear you are facing?  Can you move past whatever is holding you back?  The answer is yes- even though at times it may seem impossible, but if we move at a slow and steady pace we can learn to overcome all of that holds us down.  Take a step today and really try to focus on winning the small battles, because in the end- the more small victories we have, the more confidence we have when taking on the bigger challenges in life.
