The Journey

Have you ever sat back and watched while someone else accomplished their dreams?  Have you ever wished that was you?  Has one of your friends accomplished something amazing and you appear happy for them on the outside but on the inside you are steaming with jealousy?  We have all been there, but why let it stop you?  Why would we want to just live a life of complacency, when we can have a life full of joy and accomplishment.  I know that many times in life we face circumstances that we cannot control, it happens I understand that, but those situations don't have to determine who you are and what your future will look like.  Sometimes we put up walls so high that they seem impossible to get over, but if you look carefully there is a crack.  A crack that will lead you through that wall and lead you to somewhere you never thought you could accomplish.  I know many times we let our past events dictate our reactions to situations but should we try to ...

Dreams

Have you ever had a dream that you thought was out of reach?  Have you ever felt that you were not good enough to accomplish that dream?  Have you witnessed other people around you accomplishing great things and you are stuck where you are?  Fear not!  Your dreams have been given to you for a purpose of accomplishing them.  Think back to when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up- A doctor? A lawyer? A Veterinarian?  Now look at yourself and what are you doing now?  Where was the dream lost?  Have you accomplished what you set out to do?  If you have set out and accomplished that dream, what steps did you take to make sure that you accomplished all that you wanted to be? I was sitting in my office one day and I was trying to figure out a direction for myself and all of a sudden the thought of HTML popped into my head (thank you god).  I did not know the first thing about making a website or how it was structured or ...

The Mirror

There have been times in life where we feel less that what we truly are.  When you open your eyes in the morning, you have been given a gift.  The gift of a new day, and with that new day comes the promise that better days are ahead of you.  We often times get lost in what we feel and do not realize that our emotions have an effect on those around us.  Many times recently I have found myself down and have had it rub off on my family.  I know that my mood can dictate the way the day will go and I am trying to keep a more humble and uplifting spirit about myself.  However have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and wonder how you have ended up where you are today?  Many times we look in the mirror and do not like what we see.  I know that at times the face looking back at you is not who you thought you would be, but it is where you are and it is important to remember that the current face looking back at you can change.  You do not have...

Stay for those who care

Stay for those who care.... I recently heard that in a song lyric (once again music speaks volumes for me) and it got me thinking. How many of us have just let go and have given in? How many people have just turned around and walked away from the battle for their happiness? How many people have left this world knowing that they were loved, but never believed it? One can say that it's easy to just throw in the towel and be done with it, most of the time depression can hold your head under water, and make it seem as if it would be easier to let go and give up... But what so you gain from letting go? Nothing really, you no longer get to be part of a world that yes at times is filled with darkness but there are still many bright spots to be proud of.  Many of you who read this may think to yourself that what do I know about the struggle of every day or what struggle you face, but I am here to tell you that if you stay for those who care, you will start to see the world in a new light,...

To be a hero

What does it look like to be a hero to someone?  What qualities must one have to be a hero?  No you do not have to wear a coat of armor, no you do not have to be the strongest person in the world.  Being a hero to someone is all about being there for them.  Yes others may have the same struggles that we do, but have you ever stopped to think about if you brought some light into their dark world, that it just may help them more than you could ever imagine?  The spark is inside you to overcome what you are going through, yes the road is a long and tough one, but once you press forward you will find that you can become the hero that someone else is looking for.  Where you are in your journey with beating depression and anxiety may be further ahead than others.  What tools have you learned along the way that could help bring someone who is not as far on their journey out of the darkness and into the light?  First (in my opinion) is that you recognize...

Seeking Shelter

There have been times in my life where I have felt as if there is a hurricane coming against me.  The winds and the rain are trying to wash away a foundation that I have already set for myself.  Most of the things that we come against feel as if they are going to just wash us away.  The depression of a certain situation can feel as if it can destroy everything that you have worked so hard to create.  Most of the time I feel that the foundation that I have built for myself can withstand anything, but there are some times in this journey that I feel that my walls will be shattered and I would not be able to get back to the place that I am now, however if the foundation you have created for yourself is strong enough, you will be able to withstand anything that depression and anxiety can throw your way.  So my question for you today is: How have you created a shelter for yourself?  What tools did you use?  Is your foundation strong enough to make sure tha...

The power of words

Do you ever stop and think about the power your words and thoughts have on the outcome of your happiness?  Has anyone ever yelled at you or have they criticized you before?  How did that make you feel?  Well if you are anything like me, you might feel about an inch tall.  Many times in those situations I feel that I am shrinking and the person above me is a giant (almost like antman minus the powers and all).  Have you ever stopped to think about the words that you may say to someone?  Did those words make you the giant and make them smaller than they needed to be?  For this post I wanted to focus on the power of words.  Words have the capability to destroy someone.  Words can leave a lasting mark on someone's life and they carry what was spoken to them.  Sometimes we carry those words as if they are who we are because someone decided to speak negatively over you.  But I promise that whatever negative words have been spoken over yo...
