Self Worth and Social Media
Have you ever posted something on social media and you thought it was great, but you were ignored? Have you scrolled down your feed to see someone else post something around the same topics and they get more attention than you do? Hurts doesn't it... Hurts to see the thing that you thought was important enough to share with the world, only to be over looked. I post on this blog to help or at least try to help people who may be having a bad day or experiencing some of the same things that I face, but at times I doubt whether or not people just see another post on their social media and scroll right past it, that is fine with me honestly. Maybe that day they didn't need to hear what I have to say. However we often get caught up in what our internet persona perceives about us. We often times say well I got over 100 likes on this post, so I must be popular. I must post something that a lot of people like, however if you post something that gets over looked, how does that make you feel? Does it make you feel that you are not worth that much to the people you have on you "friends" list? How many of those people actually know you for you? Do they only know the person behind the screen, that shows the world what they want to see? Or do they know the real you and the person you have grown to be. We often times get caught up in the fact that we think the more views and or likes we get will determine how liked we really are, but in actuality you are you no matter how many people click on your topic or post. You can post 1000 times over and only get some many responses but that does not determine your self worth. You are you and you are great. You are worth more than any like on social media. I know that at times it gets tough to see the things others post and we can compare ourselves to what they have said, but what you don't see is their potential struggle. We do not know what that person is going through when they are not posting something on a screen. Don't worry about the amount of views or likes you may get and realize that you are unique in the fact that you woke up this morning. Your life is certainly worth more than words could ever describe. There are people in this world that would give up a lot to be in our situation. Don't let social media determine your self worth.
For today: Post something and don't be afraid of the amount of likes or followers you may receive. You are worth more than what someone could ever post online. Everyone can hide behind a screen and show you what they want to say, but they too are facing a battle that we may be able to assist with. Be better than the number on the screen. You are worth more than you think and have value regardless of the number of "friends" you have on a social media. Be better than the person you think you are and show the world that you are an amazing person. Take a step today and post something and don't worry about what others may think and don't focus on others simply scrolling past. More often than not, my posts just get scrolled past. But yet I continue to post for that one person who may actually get some value out of what I have to say. I am certainly no expert on blogging or the battles I face, I am a husband and a father who is trying to make the world a better place and provide encouragement one post at a time. I hope this finds someone who needs to hear it and I appreciate all of you who take the time out of your day to read this blog.
Until next time...
