Hope in a Dark World
Well.... Still dealing with the Corona Virus. Some of us are at home, while others are at work. But regardless of where you are currently, what are you doing to make the best of your situation? What is something that you can do to help distract yourself from all of the awful going around in the world today? I know that it is tough because there are loved ones effected by the events going on all over the world, but what bright spot has happened in your life today? Many times I lose sight of what is a bright spot in my day and I focus on the negative. Everywhere I turn I see the negative, but the positive is following me like a dog. It is always there and willing to show me what good life has to offer. Recently I found out that a class mate from high school passed away. Now I did not know him on a very personal level, but I have seen the pain that is left behind in the wake of the events that has happened. I feel for his family and friends that no longer get to have that daily interaction with him. Do we not take that for granted when that is something that we can do everyday? Many families would love the opportunity to see their loved one again and or just to hear their voice. So what is stopping us from bringing hope to someone in need? What stops us from seeing the positive in our lives and spreading that gift to others? What weighs heavy on my mind is that we are afraid to try in this day and age. We often times learn from what society tells us is ok and we clamor at the thought of going against the norm. But what if we did go against that norm just once. What if we stepped out to show the world or to someone in need just how great life really is. You can make a difference in their lives regardless of how little impact you may think that you have.
For today, try to provide some hope for those who are hurting and lost. Try to provide a light in the dark times that we are facing now (keeping social distances that is :) ). Use the gift of technology and reach out to someone who you know are having a tough time and encourage them today. See if your words can help them through whatever barrier they face in their life today. We often times turn a blind eye to other's fights because we dont want to get consumed by their fight and often times we dont want to spend time on helping them with that fight. I can't tell you how many times I have reached out to someone in need, only to never have it reciprocated. But that is OK because as long as you are there for others, you will begin to develop a new hope within yourself that can carry you through anything that you face. Be brave and break that social norm and reach out, be hope for others.
Until next time!
