Self Doubt

So recently I have been apart of a new gym experience.  I was fortunate enough to have some buddies cover a six week trial period for me to see if I will like it.  I am used to going to a regular gym...  Ah who am I kidding...  I wasn't going to the gym.  Ice cream and other amazing food items won for quite some time.  With this new experience comes getting up before the sun even thinks about rising and working out so hard that I got sick twice on the first day, but I finished the workout (yay me...).  This gym is like a cross-fit type gym, for those of you who are not aware of what cross fit is I will explain: You get to flip tires and swing ropes and what not...  Very very simple explanation if you will.  All of this to tell you that I hate myself every time I do it.  I get so anxious walking into that gym in front of 60 other people and workout.  I feel so out of place that it is painful.  I feel like the other people are judging me for being out of shape and or not able to do the workout to the fullest level.  I know that none of that is true, but I cannot help the way that I feel.  Most of the time it is a battle to get out of bed and put myself in that situation.  I feel so out of place with every step that some days I feel like quitting in the middle of it and just going back home.  However I have faced that anxiety every morning at 430, yes 430, to get up and try to better myself.  I have tried to put myself in that situation to help myself learn a new way of thinking when it comes to doing something that may cause anxiety.  If we push ourselves beyond what we think we can do, we can then begin to curb some of that anxiety.  Many times we let our anxiety of a situation stop us from even doing it in the first place.  However the more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you will begin to put your anxiety aside and live your life.  Keeping yourself in a situation where you are fearful is only going to make things worse.  However branching out and doing something you once thought was impossible will open up a new world that you never knew existed.

For today, step out of your comfort zone and try something new.  Be brave and start small.  Do something that you normally would not do.  Stand strong in what you face on a daily basis and learn a new way of life.  I believe in you and I am proud of the steps you have taken thus far, but now it is time to challenge yourself and try something that may cause your anxiety to rise.  With every step that you take in the right direction your anxiety can lessen.  That is the goal of what we are trying to accomplish to live a anxiety reduced life and begin to enjoy the things around us.  Take note of the gym experience above, the individuals who work there are another inspiration because everyone essentially has anxiety walking into that setting, but you are made to feel like family and are welcomes by everyone.  All and all that is how we all want to feel is it not?  But it took my stepping out of my comfort zone to realize that and I believe that everyone can do so as well.  Until next time!
