Matter to Others

Well here we are, most of us sitting in our homes due to the recent events (not me though...  I am at work).  As I was on social media I noticed that more and more people are banning together to help one another in this time of need.  But why do we wait until there is a pandemic among us to start to matter to others.  We live our lives in a bubble for most of the time and then all of a sudden when the world needs us, we miraculously jump into saving mode.  My question for today is why not try to matter to someone each and everyday?  Why not try to be an uplifting spark to someone that you know is struggling.  I scroll through endless amounts of stuff on social media and I see people who want to be there for you regardless of the situation get pushed to the side.  I find it hard to believe that we as a population are that self centered, but I am proved wrong each and everyday.  I understand that people have their own cares in this life and that is fine, but think about the others in your life from time to time.  Reach out to someone who you have not heard from in a while and see how they are doing.  Who knows, you may just be the spark that saves them.  We may never know the impact that we have on others lives, but try to be the bright spot in dark times.  I know that this is easier said than done (much like most of my posts 😑), but we have to start some where.  We never know how long we have on this planet of ours and we confine ourselves into little pods that we don't try to escape from.  Why live your life on a leash?  Why not try to reach a higher standard than where you are currently at?  Don't lose sight of who has helped you get to where you are today and be the strength that others need.

For today, reach out to someone who you may not have spoken to in a while and just check in on them.  You never know what battles people are facing in this world, but you may be the person that gets them out of their current situation.  I know that it is easy to just move on with your life and stay the course that you have set for yourself but why not deviate from the path every once in a while.  So I am going to say this part as a disclaimer as well:  Even if you get shot down by the person, at least you tried.  Recently I have seen people get shot down for trying and it hurts, but at least they are still fighting for something.  For me, that shows that they are willing to keep pushing for something that they believe in.  If you have hope in your heart, you never know where that will take you.  Spread that hope to someone who has reached out to you or when you reach out to someone.  Try to think outside of your world today and share a moment with someone you know is struggling to stay afloat. Be the change you wish to see in this world.  It starts with a small step and don't forget those who have been there for you when you needed them the most.

Stay safe and until next time!
